Tile Layout Calculator

Compare a balanced grid, centered tile, centered joint, full edge or custom origin. Joint pitch determines actual perimeter cuts.

Start with the editable example below. Dimensions retain their physical size when units change. Region sets currency labels without converting currencies; confirm entered quotes after changing region.

Measured tiled surfaces

Use non-overlapping rectangles. Enter openings as area on the surface they interrupt.

Whole packages round up. Allowance is separate from purchased surplus. Prices omit labor, delivery, tax and other items unless explicitly entered.

The rectangular grid does not optimize reuse, herringbone, offsets or movement joints. It estimates visible pieces, while the tile calculator estimates purchase quantities.

How it works

Tile pitch = face dimension + joint width. Intersect each tile footprint with the surface to classify full and cut pieces along both axes.

Assumptions and limitations

The rectangular grid does not optimize reuse, herringbone, offsets or movement joints. It estimates visible pieces, while the tile calculator estimates purchase quantities.

Whole packages round upward after the chosen allowance. Physical geometry and purchase reserve are separate. Manufacturer and project specifications override editable examples; the selected region does not establish a local code requirement.
