Plank Layout Calculator

Draw a fixed-length plank row schedule with balanced edge widths, starter lengths, full pieces and last cuts. Check entered minimums on adjacent rows.

Start with the editable example below. Dimensions retain their physical size when units change. Region sets currency labels without converting currencies; confirm entered quotes after changing region.

Measured rooms and floor surfaces

Use non-overlapping rectangles. Enter openings as area on the surface they interrupt.

The schedule counts installed pieces without claiming optimal stock reuse. Fractional stagger is a planning choice; product instructions govern permissible patterns.

How it works

Balanced edge = (usable width − (rows − 2) × plank width) / 2. Starter offsets follow the selected stagger fraction; short end cuts trigger adjustment and warnings.

Assumptions and limitations

The schedule counts installed pieces without claiming optimal stock reuse. Fractional stagger is a planning choice; product instructions govern permissible patterns.

Whole packages round upward after the chosen allowance. Physical geometry and purchase reserve are separate. Manufacturer and project specifications override editable examples; the selected region does not establish a local code requirement.
