Identify the exact product
Record actual plank face size, carton coverage, product thickness, attached pad and installation method. Ask for expansion, stagger and substrate requirements from the current instructions. Do not treat every vinyl plank as suitable for every wet area or every substrate.
An attached pad can change whether additional underlayment is permitted. A separate material line should be included only where the product allows or requires it. Check trims and transitions at doorways and material changes.
Round coverage and inspect the row plan
For 100 ft² at 10% allowance and 20 ft² per carton, the order is six cartons. The purchased area is 120 ft², leaving 10 ft² beyond the planned 110 ft². A balanced-row plan can prevent a narrow edge, but the area allowance still covers cuts, defects and retained spares.
The fixed-length layout tool does not optimize all offcut reuse. Verify minimum end pieces and stagger with the manufacturer. Subfloor preparation remains a separate measured scope.
Compare dated project quotes
List cartons, approved underlayment if applicable, trims, removal, preparation, delivery, labor and tax. Save country, locality, currency and quote validity. The October 2026 update provides a pricing method rather than unsupported market ranges. A low carton price is not a complete installed price if substrate work or transitions are excluded.
