Fence Calculator
Describe connected fence runs and gate openings to build a material takeoff. Shared corners count as one physical post; gate openings divide the infill into independently spaced spans.

Start with the editable example below. Dimensions retain their physical size when units change. Region sets currency labels without converting currencies; confirm entered quotes after changing region.

Geometry / layout breakdown
| Run | Infill (ft) | Bays | Equal spacing (ft) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run 1 | 100 | 13 | 7.692 |
Post sizes, spacing, height and waste are editable planning examples. The takeoff does not assess wind, ground conditions, structural adequacy, setbacks or boundary ownership.
How it works
For each infill span, bays = ceil(length / maximum spacing). Unique endpoints plus intermediate posts give physical post count. Rails and pickets are counted by bay, then purchase allowances are rounded upward.
Assumptions and limitations
Post sizes, spacing, height and waste are editable planning examples. The takeoff does not assess wind, ground conditions, structural adequacy, setbacks or boundary ownership.
Whole packages round upward after the chosen allowance. Physical geometry and purchase reserve are separate. Manufacturer and project specifications override editable examples; the selected region does not establish a local code requirement.
