Chain-Link Fence Calculator
Estimate fabric, rails and terminal connection hardware from the actual fence topology. A corner has two fabric termination directions; a detached end has one.

Start with the editable example below. Dimensions retain their physical size when units change. Region sets currency labels without converting currencies; confirm entered quotes after changing region.

Geometry / layout breakdown
| Run | Infill (ft) | Bays | Equal spacing (ft) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run 1 | 100 | 10 | 10 |
10 ft is an editable CLFMI installation baseline, not a universal building code. Tie spacings follow the cited guide; privacy slats, wind loading and unusual terminals need project specifications.
How it works
Fabric = net infill. Rolls round at project level, rail sticks at each span. Tension bars, bands, brace bands and rail ends follow terminal connection directions.
Assumptions and limitations
10 ft is an editable CLFMI installation baseline, not a universal building code. Tie spacings follow the cited guide; privacy slats, wind loading and unusual terminals need project specifications.
Whole packages round upward after the chosen allowance. Physical geometry and purchase reserve are separate. Manufacturer and project specifications override editable examples; the selected region does not establish a local code requirement.

ASTM International: F567 — Standard Practice for Installation of Chain-Link Fence
Open the source · F567-23 · Reference checked 2026-10-04 · Published/updated 2023-06-23
Scope: Installation practice catalogue and published scope
Used for: Standard identity and scope.
Does not establish: Numerical provisions not available in the public abstract; Universal local code requirements.
The published catalogue and scope were checked; no inaccessible numerical provision is asserted. Official catalogue lists F567-23 as active. Numerical installation presets here come from the separately cited CLFMI guide, not an inaccessible standards text.
Chain Link Fence Manufacturers Institute: Guide for Specifying Chain Link Fence and Gates
Open the source · Revised March 2017 · Reference checked 2026-10-04 · Published/updated 2017-03
Scope: Installation and specification guidance
Used for: 10 ft maximum line-post installation baseline; 12 in line-post ties; 18 in rail ties and hog rings.
Does not establish: Universal building code; Wind design for privacy slats.
March 2017 document remains publicly hosted; no claim that it is a newly revised 2026 standard. Project specifications can require closer spacing.
