Carpet Calculator
Compare both rectangular roll orientations, then lock pile direction when required. Pattern repeats and trim are applied to each drop rather than only to total area.

Start with the editable example below. Dimensions retain their physical size when units change. Region sets currency labels without converting currencies; confirm entered quotes after changing region.
Project takeoff
Whole packages round up. Allowance is separate from purchased surplus. Prices omit labor, delivery, tax and other items unless explicitly entered.

Check before ordering
- Confirm pile direction and seam locations with the installer before ordering.
Geometry / layout breakdown
| Room | Orientation | Selected | Drops | Drop length (ft) | Roll length (ft) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Room / surface 1 | length | yes | 1 | 12.5 | 12.5 |
| Room / surface 1 | width | no | 2 | 10.5 | 21 |
Minimum material orientation can conflict with pile direction, light, seams or installation practice. Each room rounds separately; no cross-room offcut reuse is assumed.
How it works
Drops = ceil((across dimension + trim) / roll width). Each drop length rounds upward to a pattern repeat; total roll length = drops × adjusted drop.
Assumptions and limitations
Minimum material orientation can conflict with pile direction, light, seams or installation practice. Each room rounds separately; no cross-room offcut reuse is assumed.
Whole packages round upward after the chosen allowance. Physical geometry and purchase reserve are separate. Manufacturer and project specifications override editable examples; the selected region does not establish a local code requirement.
