Sheet Vinyl Flooring Calculator

Estimate strips and linear roll length for each room using actual roll width, pattern repeat and a chosen orientation.

By Alish Gautam, Software Developer · Updated · Calculation methodology

Start with the editable example below. Dimensions retain their physical size when units change. Region sets currency labels without converting currencies; confirm entered quotes after changing region.

Measured rooms and floor surfaces

Use non-overlapping rectangles. Enter openings as area on the surface they interrupt.

Basic settings
Auto compares both orientations independently per room. Length or width locks the same axis for all rooms.

Zero means no pattern repeat. Repeat matching across drops needs installer verification.
Includes both ends; enter the combined allowance.

This is a rectangular drop plan. Doorways, coves, pattern matching between rooms and manufacturer seam restrictions need a drawn layout. Use actual product roll width and repeat; manufacturer instructions control adhesive, seams, pattern matching, installation method and substrate requirements. CRI carpet standards do not govern sheet vinyl.

How it works

Strip count = ceil((across + trim) / roll width). Repeat-adjusted drop lengths multiply by strip count; seams = strips − 1.

Assumptions and limitations

This is a rectangular drop plan. Doorways, coves, pattern matching between rooms and manufacturer seam restrictions need a drawn layout. Use actual product roll width and repeat; manufacturer instructions control adhesive, seams, pattern matching, installation method and substrate requirements. CRI carpet standards do not govern sheet vinyl.

Whole packages round upward after the chosen allowance. Physical geometry and purchase reserve are separate. Manufacturer and project specifications override editable examples; the selected region does not establish a local code requirement.
