Keep installed and purchased area separate

A 100 ft² room with a selected 10% allowance needs 110 ft² of planned flooring. At 20 ft² per carton, ceil(110 / 20) = six cartons and 120 ft² purchased coverage. A materials subtotal uses six carton prices. An installed unit rate normally divides the completed project scope by 100 ft², not the 120 ft² order.

Specify the product, thickness, finish and installation method before comparing quotes. An area price for click flooring does not have the same inclusions as a bonded tile assembly or a coating system.

Use a complete quote schedule

ScopeQuantity or price basis
FlooringWhole cartons, bundles or rolls
PreparationMeasured repair / leveling scope
Underlayment / adhesiveCompatible product quantities
Trims and transitionsMeasured linear lengths
Installation and removalExplicit labor and disposal quote

Check furniture moving, skirting/baseboards, door trimming, delivery, disposal and tax. Keep a substrate inspection and any moisture work in the scope rather than burying them in a generic allowance.

Record date and market

Use dated quotes from the same country, locality and currency. Save validity, tax treatment and whether the price is supply-only or installed. The dated US table above compares selected systems with their own scopes; it does not supply one universal flooring rate. Compare equivalent finished outcomes before choosing the lowest apparent square-foot rate.
